🚗 Parking Rates Near Church
Standard rates are Php 50 to Php 100 depending on the vehicle size and holidays. Do not pay excessive amounts to undocumented "watchmen."
🕯️ The "Candle Boy" Caution
Beware of street vendors or "candle boys" who guide your car and claim that buying their candles is mandatory, or that it is already "included with the parking at a high price." You are never under any obligation to buy candles from them.
🆓 Free Candles Inside
There are areas inside the Basilica grounds where candles are provided for free, supported purely by voluntary donations from pilgrims like you.
✨ Blessings are FREE
Never pay extra for "pre-blessed" items. Take your souvenirs inside the church compound where priests bless them completely for free.
🚫 Avoid Forced Selling
Watch out for aggressive street vendors who suddenly hang rosaries on your neck or car mirrors and demand payment. Politely say "No" and keep walking.
🏪 Stick to Solid Stalls
Buy only from permanent, structured stores or our Featured Listings to avoid overpriced or low-quality goods.
STERN WARNING: The "Libre Po Ito" Scam
Beware of aggressive sellers who hand you rosaries or scapulars saying "Libre po ito" (This is free). Once you hold them, they will demand payment aggressively. Politely say "No, thank you" and keep walking.

Melandro "Tito Baldz" Abellera
The Culinary Backbone of Manaoag Public Market
If you find yourself exploring the vibrant stalls of the Manaoag Public Market, make sure to stop by Lita’s Eatery. There, you’ll likely run into a true local icon: Melandro Abellera, affectionately known to everyone as "Tito Baldz."
For many years, Tito Baldz has served as the absolute backbone of the eatery. Known throughout the market for his incredibly warm nature, infectious smile, and genuine friendliness, he is the kind of person who makes everyone feel like family. He is famously "one call away" — always ready to show up, lend a helping hand, offer support, or share a good drink with friends.
But beyond his stellar personality, it’s his magic touch in the kitchen that keeps people coming back. Tito Baldz cooks with a passion that you can taste. His culinary skills are so celebrated locally that he is the go-to chef invited to cook for special occasions all over town, and regular patrons flood Lita’s Eatery specifically seeking out his signature dishes.
When he isn't busy feeding the community, Tito Baldz loves exploring life to the fullest — whether he’s singing his heart out, traveling to new places, or enjoying a celebratory drink with his favorite people. Having just celebrated his birthday on May 19, there is no better time to honor him.
"To the pilgrims and travelers visiting our town: if you want a taste of real Manaoag flavor and unmatched local hospitality, look for Tito Baldz at the market. He isn't just a master cook; he’s a living Manaoag legend!"
